Biografia

TRAINING: A day of training for Javier is described best as tough and rough. I have to be ready for anything at anytime.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I was 11 when I started wrestling, 13 when I started Jiu-jitsu, and had my 1st pro fight at 16.

What ranks and titles have you held? TUF 2 welterweight winner. KOTC welter and lightweight Champion, ROF welterweight champ, RITC welterweight champ, GC RITC welterweight champ. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt

Do you have any heroes? My kids Joey, Tyler, Frankie, and Max inspire me to continue my goal of obtaining the UFC belt

What is your favorite technique? Leg locks, the D'Arce, guillotine

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means realizing a life long goal that I can finally accomplish!

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? One year of JUCO. No degree.

What was your job before you started fighting? Concrete truck and forklift driver.

•    Featherweight debut

•    Was considering retirement before he got the call for The Ultimate Fighter’s second season.

•    Made pro MMA debut at 16 in 1999.

•    Lost third pro fight to Jens Pulver in 1999, and lost three of his first five bouts.

•    Had eight fight winning streak leading to The Ultimate Fighter 2

•    Moved from 170 to 155 after loss to Josh Neer – was 7-6 at 155, with four submissions and one TKO.

•    Has deadly guillotine choke, ending four fights with that submission hold.

•    Received his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt from Robert Drysdale.

•    Father of four sons.

•    Win over Diaz and losses to Sanchez and Sotiropoulos were awarded Fight of The Night honors
